Prevention and Stabilization

Family Promise of the Lakeshore currently has active Eviction Prevention and Housing Stabilization programs in Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa counties. These programs are open to households with children under the age of 18 in the home.

These programs are meant to assist families with income, that are already in stable housing, when they encounter a temporary emergency. The program supports these families through Case Management and offers small amounts of emergency financial assistance, paid directly to the vendor.  Participating families are required to provide documentation of their temporary emergency, bills and income. Qualifying families will be able to demonstrate the ability to resume paying their bills on a regular basis again the following month.

Families accessing this program will be required to meet with a Case Manager twice a month for at least 6 months after they receive assistance, and monthly for an additional 6 months after that. Families will also be asked to participate in Life Skills classes either in person or online, when not working or in school.

These programs are only open when funds are available, so it is best to call as soon as you need help, and for smaller amounts of assistance.

Interested families should call (231)747-8855, and ask about current availability and qualifications in your area.
