As I write this note, Congress is poised to pass a $2 trillion Coronavirus rescue package, including $1,200 per adult for those in the low- to middle-income categories. I am so grateful, especially for those at the lowest income levels who will be able to continue feeding and sheltering their families during the crisis. These are the folks Family Promise of the Lakeshore has been serving for more than ten years, and will continue to serve in the coming years…with your help.
My wife and I fall into the income category of those who expect to receive cash payments. But we are among the fortunate ones who can manage without the government giving us extra money. That’s why we’ve decided to share all $2,400 we receive with those in need, including a donation of $1,000 to Family Promise of the Lakeshore.
Not all people are in a position to do this, I know. But if you are, please consider making a generous donation out of these windfall funds to Family Promise and other nonprofits focused on “the least of these…” Without immediate help, organizations like Family Promise will not survive a long recession. We must keep them alive! If you’ve been feeling powerless in the middle of the Coronavirus onslaught, wondering how you can make a difference, this is one important way to do it.
Please, if you are able, “Share the Wealth” now. In our lifetimes, it has never been more important.
