When you lose your job, when you have no income, you lose your home. Troy, Dawn and Ivy came to Family Promise when that happened to them. Family Promise gave them the support and the breathing room Troy needed to find a new job, save some money, and get a new place to live. They saved their money in the Family Promise “Bank” and spent hours on the internet and on the phone searching for affordable housing. Family Promise will use its resources to help fill their home with what they’ll need.
Family Promise of the Lakeshore keeps connected to families once they leave the program. Our caseworker calls the family monthly and we encourage families to contact us if they need help we can provide.

Shandi worked hard all of her life, but lost her job after the financial downturn in 2008. She was able to stay with family for a while, but it was a very tight squeeze. She found Family Promise and we welcomed her and her daughter Isabelle. Shandi put everything she had into finding employment and eventually did get two part time jobs. She and Isabelle now have a home of their own. Shandi wants to go back to school and get her GED.
